A Complete Backyard Transformation

This Tuxedo backyard transformation began with a clear vision: create an outdoor living space that seamlessly blends entertainment, relaxation, and stunning design. The homeowners, passionate entertainers, dreamed of a backyard that would leave lasting impressions on every guest who stepped through their door.

The Design Approach

Our design team approached this project with balance as the guiding principle — a structured layout with rich personality. The centerpiece is a custom black aluminum pergola that anchors the lounge space, providing both shade and architectural interest. Its clean lines and modern aesthetic set the tone for the entire transformation.

Surrounding the pergola, we designed a multi-level patio using premium stone pavers in warm, earthy tones. The varying elevations create natural zones for different activities: an intimate seating area beneath the pergola, a dedicated outdoor kitchen space, and open areas for mingling during larger gatherings.

The Outdoor Kitchen

No entertainment space is complete without a proper outdoor kitchen. We installed a fully-equipped cooking station featuring a built-in grill, prep counter, and storage — everything needed to host the perfect Winnipeg summer BBQ. The kitchen’s stone veneer finish complements the patio materials, creating a cohesive look throughout.

Layered Landscaping

The soft landscaping brings warmth and life to the hardscape elements. We designed layered planting beds featuring a mix of ornamental grasses, flowering perennials, and tropical accents that provide color from spring through fall. Strategic placement of planters adds pops of seasonal color and allows for easy updates year to year.

The Finishing Touches

To extend the usability of this outdoor oasis into the evening hours, we incorporated landscape lighting throughout the space. Subtle uplighting highlights key plantings while pathway lights ensure safe navigation after dark. Outdoor heaters flanking the lounge area allow the homeowners to enjoy their new space well into Winnipeg’s cooler autumn evenings.
