Real local numbers · 2026
Know your number before you call anyone.
Every range here comes from our own Winnipeg project pricing, built on 33 years of work in Red River clay — not a national average. Pick your services, pick your scale, see where your project actually lands.
Most landscaping companies make you book a site visit before they’ll tell you whether your project is a $20,000 project or a $120,000 one. We think that’s backwards.
So here are the actual numbers — not “starting from” figures, not a national average scraped off an American cost site. The same ranges our own estimators work from, published openly, so you can decide whether to keep reading before anyone comes to your property.
The one thing to understand up front: Winnipeg costs more than the guides you’ll find online, and it isn’t markup. It’s a four-foot frost line, clay that has to be dug out and replaced, and a build season barely sixteen weeks long. Those three facts are in the price of every hardscape in this city.

Three local facts
Why Winnipeg isn’t a national average
Every online cost guide that puts a paver patio at $6,000 was written for a market with an eighteen-inch frost line and an eight-month build season. Neither applies here.
A four-foot frost depth
Manitoba’s frost line sits around four feet. Every hardscape needs footings or a base built for that depth. In an eighteen-inch market, base prep is a fraction of the job. Here it’s a substantial share of every budget — that’s physics, not margin.
Red River clay
Much of the city sits on clay that doesn’t drain, swells when wet and shrinks when dry. Before base material goes in, that clay often has to be excavated and replaced with granular — and drainage stops being optional on almost every property.
A sixteen-week build season
Mid-May to September is the whole window. Every contractor in the city is competing for the same crews, materials and machines inside it. That’s a real supply condition, and it’s in local pricing.

Pricing questions
What homeowners ask us about cost
How much does a patio cost in Winnipeg?
$10,000 to $40,000 for a paver patio. A small sitting area of 150–250 sq ft runs about $10,000–$20,000, a mid-size patio $20,000–$30,000, and a large or premium 450+ sq ft layout $30,000–$40,000. The site prep our four-foot frost depth and clay soil demand is part of that cost, not an add-on — which is exactly why local pricing differs from national guides.
Why are Winnipeg prices higher than what I see online?
Most online guides use American data or Canadian markets with much milder winters. Frost depth, clay, a sixteen-week season and real Manitoba material costs are all higher than the markets those numbers come from. Everything on this page is from real Winnipeg projects.
What should I budget for a complete backyard?
A common complete project — patio, site prep, and some planting or sodding — typically runs $25,000–$60,000 depending on scope and materials. Add a pergola, outdoor kitchen and retaining walls and it can reach $80,000–$150,000 or more. Select all your elements in the calculator to see how your combination adds up.
Do I need a design before getting a quote?
Not always. A fence replacement or single patio often doesn’t need a formal design engagement. Complex multi-element projects — or anything where drainage and grading are significant — benefit from design work that prevents expensive changes mid-build. Design fees run $2,000–$10,000 depending on scope.
Is the estimate binding?
No. It’s a range, not a quote. Your real number depends on access, existing conditions, grades and material selections, which is what the site visit establishes. The range exists so you know whether the conversation is worth either of our time.
Do you take on smaller jobs?
Our construction work is complete design-build projects, plus ongoing care for the landscapes we build. We’re not the right fit for one-off repairs or single small jobs, and we’d rather say so early than waste your build season.
