Plastic edging lifts. Spade edges close up by July. Brick borders go crooked. Curbing is the version that stays where you put it.

It is extruded on site by machine, so the border comes out as one continuous, seamless piece in whatever shape the bed actually wants — a real curve, not a series of straight segments pretending to be one. That continuity is why it holds mulch in, keeps grass out, and gives the mower a clean edge to run along instead of a line you have to cut by hand every week.

Then it gets finished: an integral colour mixed through the concrete rather than painted on the surface, and a stamped pattern pressed while it is green. Chosen against the house and the existing pavers, curbing reads as part of the landscape. Chosen off a chart with no reference, it reads as a grey line around the garden.

We bring the sample board to the consultation so you can see and hold the colours and the patterns before deciding.

Why homeowners do it

Six reasons it pays for itself

No more edging

The weekly job of cutting a clean line between lawn and bed disappears permanently. The mower wheel runs on the curb.

Mulch stays in

A real physical barrier keeps mulch and stone in the bed and grass and creeping roots out of it.

Custom colour

Integral pigment mixed through the concrete, chosen against your brick, siding or existing pavers.

Any shape or curve

Extruded on site, so the border follows the bed you actually want rather than the one the product allows.

20+ year life

Properly installed curbing lasts decades with essentially no maintenance beyond the odd rinse.

Curb appeal, literally

Crisp borders are one of the cheapest things that make a whole property read as looked-after — including to a buyer.

Step one · Profile

Seven mould profiles, residential and commercial.

The profile is the cross-section — how tall the curb stands and how the face is angled. It decides how the border reads from the house and how easily a mower runs along it.

Residential mouldsLow profiles mow better; taller profiles define more strongly.

Step two · Pattern

24 stamp patterns, pressed while it’s green.

Texture is stamped into the surface during the pour, so it is part of the concrete rather than a coating. Match the house, match the pavers, or keep it quiet — the guidance below is what we actually tell people at the sample board.

Step three · Colour

Integral colour, every family in stock

Premium pigment mixed through the concrete, not applied to the surface — so it does not wear off the high points. Swatches below are indicative; the real ones come to your consultation.

Yellow & orange family

Champagne, Gold, Bamboo, Buff, Sahara, Sedona and more warm tones. The safest match for beige and tan brick.

Brown family

Nutmeg, Copper, Rustic, Hazelnut, Biscuit, Chocolate Fudge. Reads naturally against mulch and disappears into planting beds.

Red family

Raja Red, Salmon, Egyptian Red, Redwood, Maroon. The classic match for red brick houses.

Black & grey family

Shadow Gray, Gray Cloud, Monsoon, Smoke, Midnight Sky. The modern choice, and the one that suits grey large-format paving.

Green family

Tiller green at different depths, for subtle natural tones that sit quietly beside lawn and foliage.

Matching existing

Already have curbing, or pavers you want the border to relate to? In most cases we can match or deliberately complement what is there. Send a photo before the visit.

How to actually choose

  • Match the pattern to your house or your existing pavers.
  • Busy house with lots of texture? Choose a simple pattern.
  • Simple house? A more complex pattern gives useful contrast.
  • Can’t decide? A simple texture is almost never the wrong answer.
  • Smaller curb profiles look better with simpler patterns.
  • Pick a colour family rather than chasing an exact tone.
One honest warning

Reds can fade toward pink over time in areas that get full sun all day. If the bed you are edging is south or west facing and unshaded, we will usually steer you to a brown or a deeper red.

We bring samples to every consultation, so you can see and feel the colours and patterns in person before you decide.

Curbing questions

What people ask before booking

How much does concrete curbing cost?

Most projects land between $3,000 and $15,000. The number moves with total length, the profile you choose, and how complex the shapes are — tight curves and tree rings take longer than long straight runs. Commercial 6″ × 6″ profiles are quoted at $19 per square foot. Quotes are free and detailed.

How long does it last?

Properly installed curbing lasts 20 years or more with minimal maintenance. There is no annual re-setting, no staking, and nothing to replace the way plastic and metal edging needs replacing.

Will it crack in a Winnipeg winter?

Some hairline cracking can appear over time — that is honest freeze-thaw behaviour, not a defect. We use a concrete mix designed for Manitoba weather and cut control joints so any movement happens where it is meant to rather than randomly across the face.

How soon can I walk on it?

Light foot traffic after 24 hours. Full cure takes roughly seven days, and we leave written care instructions covering watering, the first mow and keeping heavy loads off it in the first week.

Can you match my existing curbing?

In most cases yes — we can match or deliberately complement existing colours and patterns. Send us a photo before the visit and we will bring the closest samples with us.
